We need 20 voices for a utopia
No previous experience needed for utopias!”
Do you imagine new social orders and alternative modes of political engagement? Do you want to make your voice heard? Take part in a one-off vocalisation performance at the Whitechapel Gallery on 3 July 2013 directed by the artists’ collective Ha Za Vu Zu.
Ha Za Vu Zu are looking for 20 volunteers to take part in a vocalisation performance which will take place on the opening evening of the exhibition Spirit of Utopia at the Whitechapel Gallery on 3 July 2013 at 7.30pm.
You do not need previous experience or a good singing voice, just the ability to make sound and noise. This performance is open to all who want to make a statement and use it as a gesture of reaction.
A series of artist led 6 two-hour rehearsals will take place at the Whitechapel Gallery in the mornings between 24 June – 2 July.
Time commitment: 12 hours of rehearsal plus one performance.
Please email your interest to vocalisation@whitechapelgallery.org *
Deadline: 17 June 2013
*Please note, this event is managed by Ha Za Vu Zu and hosted by the Whitechapel Gallery, it does not form part of the Whitechapel Gallery’s structured volunteer programme.
Ha Za Vu Zu is an artist collective based in Istanbul, Turkey who have been working together since 2005. While the group’s practice ranges from installations to videos to all manner of objects, their particular strength is performances that play on the boundary between performer and audience.
